Heart of PA
Harrisburg is a city that boasts a past rich in accomplishment and a future full of promise. More than three centuries ago, when William Penn founded Pennsylvania, he created a society built on the ideas of community, individual freedom, and representative self-government.
As a City, Harrisburg cherishes the historical, social and cultural arts of out people and our various communities as emblems of enduring significance and influential character to the entire Commonwealth and nation.

The Patriot News
- 2004 marks the 150th anniversary of The Patriot-News, Central Pa.’s largest regional newspaper. In 1854, the Pennsylvania Patriot, a weekly paper, started publishing to keep the growing population of Harrisburg informed of local, national and world events.
Today, The Patriot-News serves Dauphin, Cumberland, Lebanon, Perry and Northern York counties. It provides award-winning coverage of world and local news, but is equally noted for excellence in entertainment, feature and diversity reporting.
The Patriot-News and its staff support many community and charitable organizations; however, being the Official Media Sponsor of CowParade may take the cake as one of the most fun! Another of our favorite events is The Patriot-News ArtsFest, a nationally known arts festival, which takes place in Harrisburg over Memorial Day Weekend. Having colorful cows grazing through the city will add an exciting dimension to an already outstanding event.
